April 2010: New release by Oscar Macchioni

Argentine-US pianist Oscar Macchioni has recently released his debut compact disc Mostly Tangos: Piano Music from the Americas.

The music circles around the tango in art music as well as other Latin America rhythms. It includes works by Samuel Barber and William Bolcom (USA); Manuel M Ponce (Mexico); Heitor Villa-Lobos (Brazil); Juan José Castro; Astor Piazzola and Alberto Ginastera (Argentina). Oscar Macchioni, an accomplished pianist, author and teacher, has established himself as a passionate performer of Latin American music. He has been praised by critics as 'a sublime pianist with a deft touch'.
