March 2010: Sarabande Label LaunchedSarabande Records is a new record label set up in 2010 by Morgan and Dylan Szymanski. Its aim is to provide high quality recordings by some of the UK’s finest young musicians at the start of their careers. Sarabande works with artists, musicians, designers, photographers and producers at the fore-front in today’s digital age, offering musicians a refreshing alternative to the monotonous monopoly in the music industry. Artists include Machaca, Morgan Szymanski (guitar), Gemma Rosefield (cello), ODuo (Oliver Cox and Owen Gunnell, percussion), Lizzie Ball (violin), Ruth Rogers (violin), Jose Menor (harpsichord), the Saconni string quartet, Phuong Nguyen (accordion), Luzmira Zerpa (cuatro and voice), Laura Mitchell (soprano), Galo Cerón (guitar and cuatro), Al Mobbs (bass) and Adam Walker (flute). Sarabande Records endeavours to promote new music by today’s foremost composers including works by Leo Brouwer, Paulo Bellinati, Alec Roth, Stephen McNeff, Simone Iannarelli, Jorge Cardoso and Celso Machado amongst others. Sarabande is has provided the world premiere recordings of two works for guitar and string quartet: Alec Roth’s monumental Quintet for Guitar and Strings and Simone Iannarelli’s Valzer Brillante both especially written for Morgan Szymanski and the Saconni String Quartet. Morgan Szymanski’s solo CD also includes two world premieres by Alec Roth: The Unicorn in the Garden and Cat Dances. The label's next production, Los Ambulantes by Machaca will include the world premiere recording of Stephen McNeff’s Los Ambulantes written for Morgan Szymanski and ODuo.
